Rhinelander - Running for a cause, walking for a cause - both fairly common. But showering for a good cause?
It's happening at Rhinelander High School, where students are hosting a shower and breakfast fundraiser for Hodag Fest campers.
"For today, Saturday and Sunday from 8 to noon, we have showers and breakfast available here at the high school. It's $5 for a shower and $5 for an all-you-can-eat breakfast," says teacher Allie Johnson.
This is the high school's sixth year hosting the Hodag Breakfast and Shower.
The money raised goes to help fund student events like orientation, homecoming, and trips to competitions.
Campers appreciate the cleanliness of the high school. They can also shower without a timer, unlike at the campgrounds.
"We were directed here to come for breakfast and a shower. It's build your own omelet, all-you-can-eat," said Hodag Fest attendee Penny Walski. "We ate, now we're gonna go take a shower and shop Rhinelander."
Most importantly, they like to give back to the students.
"I think this is awesome. Anything we can do to help the community," Walski said.
The students raised nearly $400 in just 4 hours on Friday.
The YMCA of the Northwoods is also providing Hodag Fest-goers showers with the purchase of a $5 day pass.
This is the first year the YMCA will have their shower facilities open on Sunday.
