Rhinelander - The cases against the Tomahawk man in trouble for asking a 16-year-old girl for sex on Facebook will have a new judge.

Monday, Judge Patrick O'Melia recused himself from both of Abel Jump's cases he was presiding over. Jump indirectly threatened the judge before his bond hearing in the Facebook case.

O'Melia had set bond at $1,500, which Jump has been unable to pay. He now faces a new felony charge of threat or battery to a judge. O'Melia set bond for that at $10,000 cash. "I'm going to recuse myself on the new matter. There's no specific named threat but it would have an appearance of impropriety if I stayed on that particular case. Frankly, I think I have to get off all cases because the threats were in direct relation to the 12CF143 case," says Judge O'Melia.

Jump's attorney won't enter a plea for either case until a new judge is selected.

Jump has said from the beginning illicit messages were sent by someone else using his Facebook account. He admitted to law enforcement he started the conversation with the girl. But he claims the moment the messages became provocative it was somebody else.

A preliminary hearing for the felony threat to a judge case, and an arraignment for felony child enticement will be set when a new judge is assigned.
