Rhinelander - One day after announcing plans to expand, global packaging company Printpack explains what these changes mean for the facility.
"Being a Rhinelander resident for the past 20 years this is a dream come true not only for myself but for all the associates here in Rhinelander," said Printpack Plant Manager, Pat Marquart.
"We'll be building 127,000 square foot, over $70 million facility. It will be state of the art equipment and we'll be one of a kind plant."
During a special meeting at 6 a.m. yesterday, Marquart announced to workers that the plant would be relocating to a larger facility and creating dozens of jobs.
"One guy actually spilled coffee on my back as he hugged me. It was something we all dreamed about for years," Marquart said.
But as the Rhinelander plant expands, Printpack's facility in Hendersonville, North Carolina will be closing.
As an incentive to keep the Rhinelander plant open, Governor Walker gave the company tax breaks.
Marquart says that influenced corporate's decision to keep Rhinelander's plant open.
Due to confidentiality issues, Marquardt was unable to discuss the new plant's location but he did say it will be located in Rhinelander.
He said building will begin this fall and he hopes by next year, the new plant will be up and running.
