Auto Insurance Laws Change in 2010 Submitted: 01/08/2010
Rhinelander - Auto insurance laws and requirements are changing in Wisconsin with the New Year, which could mean a higher premium for you.

According to Harry Lee of Harry Lee's American Family Insurance in Rhinelander, Governor Doyle included several changes to auto insurance laws in his 2010 budget.

Starting on January first of this year, liability coverage costs increased and starting in June 2010 all drivers will be required to have car insurance. Lee says these changes will lead to higher premiums.

He says it's too early to tell how much premiums could rise, but he has some reassuring words for anyone worried about costs, "They might think it's too costly for them, the only way to fix that is to come in and see your agent, talk to him about it, he might be able raise deductibles, do this, do that, tweak your policy, maybe your missing a discount or something."

Lee says it's very important you talk with your insurance agent just to keep on top of your policy and to find out how the new regulations will affect it.
