- Tribal members of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa vote yes on a referendum today to deal with the tribe's cash flow situation.
The referendum asked "Do you approve pledging the Tribe's fee lands (2% of all lands owned by the Tribe) to secure a short time operating line of credit?"
It also asked tribal members to approve using that land, which is two percent of all of their land, to secure a short term operating line of credit with three conditions.
One that the Tribal Council determines there is no other way to avoid layoffs and reductions in government services.
Second that the council offer members a written explanation of how the loan would be repaid.
And third that a minimum acreage would be used.

According to the Tribal Secretary Gerry Brown and Amanda Christensen the executive secretary to tribal president Victoria Doud-
429 members voted yes and 267 voted no.
