- The Newbold Fire Department held its annual picnic Saturday, but this year it wasn't just about fundraising for the fire station.
The department was also celebrating a special milestone.
The Newbold Fire Department, which started in 1968, had its 50th anniversary this year. At the picnic, there was a display and tables full of old pictures from the station's past.
Fire Chief Mark Fetzer says the department's longevity is thanks to the people who've worked there.
"We've always had good people, men and women that have been happy to work hard and keep things operating and flowing," said Fetzer.
The annual fundraiser is a way for the community to keep the station operating.
People could buy food, participate in raffles, and got a chance to see the Spirit Medical Helicopter up close.
The fundraiser also included a dunk tank this year, with Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies volunteering to take the plunge.
