- A Wausau-based company that makes architectural metal finishing took home a big honor Thursday night. Linetec won the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce's Manufacturer of the Year Award in the Large Company category.
The annual awards program celebrates Wisconsin companies that are well respected, serve their communities, and make Wisconsin "a better place to live, work, and play", according to a press release from the WMC.
Linetec opened more than 34 years ago and has since expanded its plant from 40,000 sq.-ft. to 900,000.
"Basically any type of product that's aluminum that you may find on the exterior of buildings would be a potential customer of ours," Linetec President Rick Marshall explained to Newswatch 12's Ben Meyer in a Nov. 2016 interview.
The WMC noted Linetec had more than $100 million in sales and employs nearly 600 people. The company also grew its workforce by more than 50-percent in the last few years.
"Linetec truly embodies its core values and enjoys a thriving company culture," the WMC's press release said. "Equally impressive is the results this company has delivered - from sales and safety to product innovation and profits - since its founding in the early eighties."
