- You can help families in need give their kids a special Christmas Day.
The Vilas County Salvation Army is still looking for toys to give to families that need some help this holiday season.
"It's always the 8 to 12-year-olds for boys and for girls. So LEGOs, definitely, are a big hit, action figures. For the girls, you know, arts and crafts kind of things, hair dryers, curling irons, any of those kinds of things," said Vilas County Salvation Army Volunteer Kathy Holtorp.
You can drop off toys at the Lincoln Town Hall in Eagle River Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is the 6th year the Vilas County Salvation Army has offered the toy program.
It serves people in eastern Vilas County and the Three Lakes School District.
Volunteers were able to give 421 children toys for Christmas last year.
Each child gets about $30 worth of gifts.
"We always get hugs which is awesome. But, we do have some that are really emotional about it and will be overwhelmed with gratitude just because this is the only gift that those children will be receiving," Holtorp added.
Parents will be able to pick out toys for their children Saturday at the Lincoln Town Hall in Eagle River.
Girl Scouts will also be there to help parents wrap the gifts.
Volunteers will try to accommodate families in need that haven't signed up.
You can call (715) 617-2179 if you would like to get toys for your children.
Those families should show up at the Lincoln Town Hall after 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
The Lincoln Town Hall is located at 1205 Sundstein Road in Eagle River.
