- The old Sacred Heart Hospital building in Tomahawk will be knocked down soon.
Milestone Senior Living will build a new home for seniors on the site.
The old building has been vacant since 2003.
But now, the vandalism and theft in the old hospital has gotten so bad, people there call the situation "disgusting" and "disappointing".
Ernie Winker did plenty of carpentry work inside the hospital.
He's spent hours and hours inside.
Now he's helping to get it ready to tear down.
What he sees every day is disturbing.
"Terrible. Terrible. It just - actually, it's sickening. I dream a little bit at night because I just can't see how anybody could do this. It's really sad," Winker says.
Marc Lietha has owned the building for ten years.
It will be knocked down soon.
He sees what's happening as no different than any other kind of vandalism and theft.
"It makes me disappointed in people that believe they can come in to somebody's property, and just smash all of the windows and doors out, and take things. They're stealing from our family. This is my son here, Timothy. They're stealing from him," Lietha says.
We talked to Tomahawk Police Chief Al Elvins on Thursday.
The department is aware of the issues Lietha has and has upped patrols in the area.
Lietha is offering a cash reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
