RHINELANDER - Frederick Place in Rhinelander celebrated a big accomplishment Saturday night.

The homeless shelter has now been open for five years.

While some people thought there were not enough people in need for Frederick Place to be useful, more than 500 people have been helped by Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing.

VILAS COUNTY - One man died after a single snowmobile crash in Vilas County late Saturday night, according to the Vilas County Sheriff's Office.

Police got a call around 10:40 p.m. about a snowmobile accident on Muskrat Creek Road and Blong Road in Phelps.

When crews got to the scene, the man was dead. Police think the man was driving on the road off the marked snowmobile trail when he hit an embankment and then hit a tree. He was following one other person.

Police will not release the name until the family is notified.
