Few days left for absentee voters to cast votesSubmitted: 03/30/2015
VILAS COUNTY - Voters can still cast their absentee ballots in person this week. Voters have until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd to go to their municipal clerk's office to vote.

Voters can also request a ballot to be sent to their home. The deadline for that is Thursday, April 2nd at 5 p.m.. Mail-in absentee votes will be counted even after election day.

"If they're postmarked on April 7th and the local municipal clerk receives them before 4 p.m. Friday [April 10th], they will still be tabulated, says Vilas County Clerk David Alleman. "They'll still be counted."

Typically, not as many voters cast their ballots in spring elections as in November. But some county clerks expect a good turnout in areas that have contested races.

Voters also won't need to show their ID to vote in the upcoming election.

"You do what you normally do. You'll be asked to sign the poll book. This has been in effect," says Alleman. "You'll be asked to recite your name, your address, but you will not need to show a specific ID to vote."

Election day is Tuesday, April 7th. You can find all of the election results on Newswatch 12.
