- Mr. and Mrs. Claus joined Rhinelander families on Saturday for the annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting.
The theme of this year's parade was "Rhinelander: Home for the Holidays."
Families enjoyed watching the parade of floats and taking pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Event Coordinator Lauren Sackett has helped plan the tree-lighting for three years.
"I love doing the official tree-lighting where everybody counts down and flips the lights," Sackett said. "It's like the official start of the holiday season here in Rhinelander."
Families were also joined by Mayor Richard Johns, who counted down the official lighting of the holiday tree.
The mayor had a special request for Santa.
"Just good health, I think that's about it for me," Johns said.
Downtown businesses also got involved with the official kickoff of the holiday season in Rhinelander. Sixteen floats were in this year's parade and the winning float won a cash prize.
