Phelps Basketball starts 4 players from the same familySubmitted: 03/06/2015
PHELPS - Small communities pride themselves in knowing their neighbors and being close with their family.

For one community a family can be seen on the basketball court.

"We're one big happy family, at times," said Senior Nathan Cirese

The four of the five starters for Phelps are related.

The Phelps basketball team has two sets of brothers. They are also second cousins. The high school only has 38 students.

"Like you said we are literally family," Senior Robert Rosner said. "We can just grow on that in basketball. We see them every day in practice for five, six months. It's a great bonding experience for us and the other guys too."
"I like it," said Nathan Cirese.

"Yeah I was going to say it's one of the best things because not only are you playing a sport that you love," Senior Nicholas Cirese said. "You're going out with family and people that you love. I think it's one of the best things after."
Their mothers are first cousins. Billie Jo Cirese and Donna Rosner also graduated from Phelps High School.

"You know you feel proud to have your kids representing your school, " said Billie Jo Cirese.

"It's nerve-racking, you almost feel like a player yourself," Donna Rosner said. "Our blood pressure elevates, we box out in the stands."

Basketball obviously is the talk of the two families during the season.
"We live and breathe basketball," said Donna Rosner.

"Because it consumes a lot of your time," said a laughing Billie Jo Cirese
