- Not many athletes can say they set a school record in their sport.
Even fewer can say they've done it as a freshman, but Lakeland's Emily Scott is one who can.
Scott is a high jumper for the T-Birds track team, and she set a school record Thursday with a jump of 5' 6".
Even though she's only a freshman, this isn't the first record Scott has set this season.
"I had actually set the record, which used to be 5' 5", last Friday at the invite at Steven's Point," says Scott. "Today, I just wanted to have fun, and maybe break my own record, so I guess that's what I did."
Her new record jump is the highest in the state for Division 2, but Scott has her sights set on even more success.
"I want to have gone to state once each year, win each year, and maybe get a college scholarship," says Scott.
Scott also runs the 4x4, the 55 meter hurdles, and the 100 meter hurdles.
