RHINELANDER - Craft supplies can be difficult to find because of a limited supply in the Northwoods, but getting those items could get a lot easier now that a new store has opened its doors.
Hobby Lobby in Rhinelander held its grand opening Monday morning.
The Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The store manager says getting ready to open didn't take long.
"It's a turnaround time of about three weeks," said Hobby Lobby Store Manager Chris Schmid. "We had nothing on the floor to actually having the pretty much sales floor full of merchandise ready to go, and we actually soft opened on Friday and Saturday, so we've had two days of people coming in to see us."
The store hopes to bring a unique shopping experience to the Northwoods.
The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce hopes that will bring more people to the community.
"It gives them another reason to come into Rhinelander to spend some money and to spend some time," said Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bill Clow. "If they spend some time at Hobby Lobby, they're bound to stop at other restaurants, and shopping, and, who knows, maybe go to a movie or something like that, so we're excited. I think it's going to be very good for Rhinelander."
Besides crafts and décor, each location offers in-store classes.
"It's pretty much a classroom we offer to the community," said Schmid. "We actually don't have any instructors, personally, that we offer, but if there is anybody that is interested in being an instructor, it is free of charge, we don't have any charge fee, and they can come in and actually teach a class on different types of crafts."
If you're interested in teaching a class, you should contact the store manager.
Hobby Lobby is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
