MONICO - People living in the Northwoods get the chance to see dozens of stars on a clear night, but with the temperatures dropping, it might not be as enjoyable.
A planetarium in Monico gives you that experience without bone chilling temperatures.
Kovac Planetarium in Monico has been in business since 2007. It took the owner 10 years to build it. 5 to put the planetarium together. Then an additional 5 to actually get it inside.
The owner says when people come to his planetarium, most people don't know what to expect.
"The one who's running the show is the one who built it. Then when they leave, especially people of all ages… I'm amazed by the comments," said Kovac Planetarium designer and owner, Frank Kovac. "People sometimes even have tears in their eyes because they're so excited."
Sunday, the Oneida County 4-H club had the chance to see the solar system from indoors. They're working on model rockets and the Sky Net Junior Scholars Astronomy program.
"There have been youth who have been interested in the sky and star constellations, what's out there," said UW Extension Oneida County 4-H Youth Development educator, Lynn Feldman. "This is just a goldmine of a place to be able to give additional information about what they have been studying."
The planetarium is open all year round.
