Husband & wife killed in Marathon County crashSubmitted: 08/29/2016
WAUSAU - The Marathon County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two people who were killing in a Sunday car crash.

Rudolph Schleif, 88, and Emily Schleif, 87, were killed from injuries in the crash.

The two-car crash happened late Sunday afternoon.

According to the Marathon County Sheriff's Office, police got a call about a crash at the intersection of County Highway N and County Highway Y in the Town of Norrie.

Two others were also injured.

The crash is still under investigation.

RHINELANDER - Oneida County Board Chairman Dave Hintz knows he faces a big decision in the coming weeks.

"It would cross the vital line, it's a significant project," Hintz said Monday afternoon.

Hintz and the Oneida County Board may consider helping with a $15 million loan to bring in new business.  Last week, the Oneida County Economic Development Corporation announced that possible deal to help Rhinelander Coated Products retrofit and move in to the old Printpack building on Kemp Street.

"It's a very positive reaction," Hintz remembers thinking when the news first broke.  "It's a project that has a lot of potential."

ANOKA, MN - Minnesota prosecutors have charged a Michigan firefighter with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide in a crash that killed two fellow firefighters and injured seven more as they drove to Utah to fight a wildfire.

The criminal complaint against 28-year-old Michael Allen Johnson, of Baraga, Michigan, says he told investigators he had not slept in more than 24 hours except for a 45-minute nap early Saturday before the crash about 3 p.m. Saturday.
