MERRILL - Inmates usually get kept inside the jail, but in Lincoln County officials needed to get inmates out in a hurry.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department tells us a fire alarm was set off just after midnight Sunday.
It turned out to be a false alarm, but resulted in an evacuation at the Lincoln County Jail early Sunday morning.
Inmates were evacuated by corrections officers, deputies and Merrill Police officers.
An investigation found that a sprinkler head had been tampered with, which caused water to flow into the cell block.
Firefighters confirmed there was no fire, and inmates were brought to their cells after about an hour.
