MERCER - The annual Mercer's Senior Christmas Party brought nearly 40 people together Sunday to kick off the holiday season.
This time every year, the Mercer Lioness Club puts together the Christmas party. The Lioness Club donates food and other baked goods.
"We have food and we have live entertainment and we have Santa and Mrs. Claus come. Everybody leaves with a goody bag and some door prizes and there's a grand prize…a door prize when they come in and the rest are bingo prizes because we play bingo," said Mercer Lioness Cheri Stratte.
Anyone was welcome to come and enjoy a few hours with friends. Town Chairman James Kichak said this is a great way for people to get out and about.
"A lot of those people just sit home. There are a lot of single people and by having this they get to come and they get to converse, you know, with their friends and things like that. So, it's kind of like a social get together and I think that's one of the best things they can have for older folks," said Kichak.
Kichak also says as he gets older, he looks forward to participating in more of these Christmas parties.
