Portage County Sheriff: suspect in reported shooting held up in houseSubmitted: 06/03/2015
BANCROFT - Newswatch 12's Adam Fox is in Bancroft, Wisconsin in Portage County, south of Stevens Point. 

In an interview done by the Stevens Point Journal, the Portage County Sheriff said there was a report of a shooting.

The sheriff couldn't confirm shots were fired, but it has said the suspect is held up in a house.  

Negotiators are talking with the person. 

Four blocks in Bancroft are shut down. Law enforcement is escorting people out of the area using an armored truck. 

Parents told Newswatch 12 that Almond-Bancroft 4K/Early Childhood Education school was evacuated as a precaution.

The Eagles Gymnastics Club teams practice throughout the week. Some of their mats are worn out, so the head coach hopes to raise enough money to get new equipment.

MERRILL - Three people went to the hospital after a crash near Merrill.

The call for help came in to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department at 7:00 Tuesday night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 64 and Maple Road in the town of Pine River.

Investigation showed an 80-year-old Merrill man was making a left turn onto Maple Road.

He turned in front an oncoming car driven by a 66-year-old Deerbrook man.

Both drivers and a passenger were taken to the hospital.

Injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

SHAWANO - A teen driver has been ordered to stand trial on charges resulting from a crash that killed three young passengers in Shawano County.

Eighteen-year-old Ryan Swadner is facing 11 charges, including eight felonies.
