- Police think chimney embers started a fire in Lake Tomahawk Thursday.
Several departments were called to East Hasbrook Road just after noon.
"When we arrived on scene, we found that the small wooded area between the two structures and along the lakefront had caught on fire; the leaves and the pine needles," said Detective Bill Nichols of the Woodruff Police Department.
Nichols said things could have been worse because of high winds and dry conditions.
"Had they not caught it when they did, it probably would have taken at least the structure on the right so they were very fortunate," said Nichols.
One of the homes has some fire damage to the deck and porch. No one was hurt.
Several fire departments assisted including Arbor Vitae, Minocqua, and Woodruff.
