- A Racine man will spend 45 days in jail for making a bomb threat at work because he wanted Halloween off. Twenty-eight-year-old Jacob Vanderhoef was sentenced Friday to 90 days in jail. Judge Tim Boyle stayed half that time, meaning Vanderhoef will spend 45 days jailed. The judge also ordered Vanderhoef to spend three years on probation. Vanderhoef pleaded no contest in May to a felony charge of a bomb scare. A second charge was dismissed.
Prosecutors say Vanderhoef left two threatening notes at Poclain Hydraulics in late October. The criminal complaint says he told investigators he didn't want to work on Halloween but was out of vacation time. Defense attorney Mark Richards says the sentence is fair.
