University of Wisconsin system finances unveiled Submitted: 04/11/2014
MADISON - The University of Wisconsin System drew fire for keeping a large stack of cash on hand while still raising tuition. New figures show the system finished the first three quarters of it's current fiscal year with more than 1.7 billion dollars. On Thursday, totals were released on the money all the campuses combined had available at the end of March. System officials expect to finish the fiscal year on June 30th with 1.1 billion on hand.

There was intense criticism when the system ended its 2012 fiscal year with a one billion dollar surplus while raising tuition year after year. The Board of Regents will likely adopt a new policy setting limits on cash on hand on Friday. (Copyright 2014 Associated Press - All Rights Reserved)
