- A new group will provide advice on fishing in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Conservation Congress have formed the Wisconsin Fisheries Advisory Council.
The group includes 16 representatives from fishing and tourism organizations.
The council will advise the DNR's fisheries management board and the conservation congress on statewide issues.
They will range from the DNR's long-term fisheries plan to finding a balance for competing interests.
The first council meeting will happen March 29 at the Mead Wildlife Area visitor's center near Stevens Point.
The agenda includes discussion of statewide planning efforts for panfish, trout, sturgeon and walleye.
