- After fog postponed Monday's men's snowboard cross, Nick Baumagartner finally got his shot at the Olympics Tuesday morning.The Iron River, MI native was making his second Olympic games. Because the event had to be held today, the qualifying portion was dropped. That athletes were grouped based on their world ranking.Baumgartner was in the first heat of the event. The top three of the four racers advanced. However, the conditions today still weren't great. Drizzle and chunky snow slowed the racers down. Baumgartner did not advance out of the heat. He officially finished tied for 25th.
Obviously, Nick was disappointed. On his Twitter page, he sent this tweet. "You have all supported me so much and I appreciate it more then I can say. I wish I could have done better for you all!"Baumgartner finished 20th in Vancouver in 2010.Pierre Vaultier of France won the gold. Baumgartner's teammate, Alex Deibold grabbed the bronze for the United States.
