Baumgartner to make second Olympic trip Submitted: 01/24/2014
ASPEN - As we first told you Thursday, Iron River, Michigan native Nick Baumgartner is vying for a return to the Olympic snowboard team. Baumgartner has become one of the top snowboard cross competitors in the world. This afternoon, Baumgartner was told he is headed to Sochi for the Olympics. This will be his second Olympic games. He competed in Vancouver in 2010. Baumgartner was competing at the X-games in Aspen today.

However in his qualifying heat, Nick finished fifth. He failed to advance to the semifinals. Seth Wescott - a 2-time Olympic gold medalist was Baumgartner's competitor for the final Olympic spot. However, Wescott also finished fifth in his heat and failed to advance. The Olympics begin in just 13 days. Newswatch 12 is your home for the Olympic games.
