No jail time for day care center owner Submitted: 01/22/2014
CRANDON - Nancy Anderson ran an unlicensed home daycare in Forest county.

Her son, BJ Anderson, is accused of violating the kids at the daycare when she wasn't there.

She's charged with child neglect and operating without a day care license.

The district attorney didn't recommend jail time in Forest County court today.

But he did recommend probation.

That's because he felt the public needed to be protected in the future.

"Our best speculation is that this day care has been running unlicensed for 10 years," said Forest County District Attorney, Chuck Simino.

"We believe that the harm to the children has only been occurring for the last two years. So that's a blessing."

Parents of the victims spoke.

We couldn't show their faces or record what they said.

They told the court they thought there were clues of child abuse.

But Anderson told them she had no idea it was happening.

"I would never let anyone do something so disgusting to a child and never do anything about it." Anderson said.

The judge withheld Anderson's sentence and gave her 2 years of probation.

She'll also need to do 100 hours of community service.

Her son, BJ Anderson, will be in court on February 18th.
