Bill would ban employers from asking for social media passwords Submitted: 01/20/2014
MADISON - Employers that want to take a look at your facebook page may soon be banned from doing that.

The Wisconsin Assembly takes up a bill this week that would bar employers from asking for access to their social media accounts such as Facebook.

The push to pass such laws is gaining momentum across the country.

That as employers ask for workers' user names and passwords for personal accounts.

Some employers say they need access to protect trade secrets and other sensitive information.

Others see it as an invasion of privacy.

The state Senate passed the bill 33-0 in November.

The Assembly is set to take it up on Tuesday.

Approval would send the proposal to Governor Scott Walker for his signature.
