- The first ever wolf hunt in Upper Michigan started Friday. At least six wolves have been killed so far.The Michigan Department of Natural Resources updated the results this morning. The wolf season runs through December in Upper Michigan, unless 43 are killed before the end of the year.It's the first hunt in Michigan since the wolf went on the endangered species list nearly 40 years ago.
Now, the wolf population has rebounded to 658 animals in Michigan, and they are no longer protected. A total of 12-hundred people are licensed to participate with firearm, crossbow or bow and arrow.(Copyright 2013 Associated Press - All Rights Reserved)
