- Roughly 92-thousand people in Wisconsin will soon get a letter stating that they will be kicked off the BadgerCare program.
The letters being mailed today also tells Medicaid recipients using BadgerCare that they need to purchase health insurance through a new online exchange.
The exchange opens for enrollment starting October 1st.
The letter tells those losing coverage they must apply for insurance through the marketplace by December 15th.
Those losing BadgerCare Medicaid coverage under Governor Scott Walker's budget are those who earn between 100 percent and 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
Walker rejected federal money that would have paid to keep those earning up to 138 percent of poverty enrolled in Medicaid.
