Hodags love court work, ready for season Submitted: 08/15/2013
RHINELANDER - The Hodag girls tennis team is getting ready for next week's season opener.

The Hodags already have something they are proud of - renovated tennis courts.

The courts look just like the one's at the U.S. Open. They have the blue background - freshly painted lines.

And no cracks.

It reportedly cost more than $79,000 between 14 courts near the high school. It was payed mostly by private donors. The school board also approved $14,000.

The cost was worth it. They're safer. The renovation also improves the play for everyone.

"I would defy anyone to find a better high school facility," Rhinelander head coach Bob Heideman proclaimed. "What they did to these courts is A-1 quality."

Hodag senior captain Amber Sheth adds, "It's really nice to play on smooth courts. With less cracks on the surface, it's easier to judge where the ball is going to go."

Their first home match is nexct Tuesday against Medford. Rhinelander is the defending Great Northern Conference champs. They open the year Monday at Wausau West.
