- A female powerlifter is spending time in the Northwoods getting ready for international competition.
Alyssa Hitchcock of Neenah and her family held a brat fry in Crandon. They're trying to cut some of the costs of traveling to Columbia for the World Games next month. In November, she also hopes to take part in the IPF Open World Powerlifting Championships in Norway.
Her family owns a cabin just outside of Crandon. She has faced some of the best powerlifters in the world.
Folks in the Northwoods have provided alot of support.
"Things have been going really great because the people up here are amaizing," Hitchcock explains. "I've been competitive powerlifting for 15 years. I was just looking for something to do in high school and I was hooked."
Alyssa says it costs around $3000 for each competition. Before today, the had raised around $600 in the first two brat frys. They will also have two more in August.
