Flag Day in Rhinelander Submitted: 06/14/2013
RHINELANDER - You see the American flag flying every day, showing off the red white and blue.

But Friday was the day to honor our flag.

Some credit the idea of Flag Day to a Waubeka man living in the late 1800s.

It didn't become an official holiday until 1949.

Today is the 64th Flag Day.

If you plan to raise a flag, we have some etiquette tips for you.

The flag should be raised quickly and lowered ceremoniously.

It should be lit at all hours of the day.

The cell phone tower in downtown Rhinelander didn't have a flag up today.

But there will be a flag raising for it Tuesday.
