Water Temps Could Rise after Slow Fishing Opener Submitted: 05/05/2013
- Sunday wrapped up a slow opening weekend for the inland fishing season. Water temps in several Northwoods lakes and streams were still below 40 degrees.

That's below the ideal conditions many of the fish like to spawn, or lay their eggs in and get moving.

Some anglers tried their luck in Rhinelander on the Wisconsin River yesterday.

Others were not having much success on the Rainbow Flowage just outside of Lake Tomahawk.

But the warm weather this weekend should help raise those water temps.

"Rivers are high (on the Wisconsin River outside of Lake Tomahawk)," says Lucas Zajicek of Lake Tomahawk. "But I have seen quite a few people out. There have been fish caught. Some of my friends have caught some. I think it's a little early with the ice conditions on most lakes."
