- Tourists usually come North searching for a feeling- the relaxed pace of life, nature, and an air of timelessness. One local business owner thinks that picture isn't complete without a certain style of hand-painted signs."I don't believe that people from the city, want to come on vacation and see flashing neon. I think they'd rather see the old-fastioned values, and I think it makes them feel like they're on vacation," said Rick Hendrickson, owner of Lone Wolf Signs & Murals.
Rick Hendrickson started painting these kinds of signs four decades ago. It's more than a "look" he says; the hand-painted style stands the test of time."The big thing was the durability, our hand-painted signs will last lots longer than any of our vinyls or our billboard wraps ever did. So we got rid of all the technology and we're going back to old school," said Hendrickson. His signs across the Northwoods, and farther south. Now he's bringing his whole business North, and he doesn't plan to leave anytime soon. Hendrickson says local ordinances can be obstacles. But now he says he knows the laws inside out, and can provide advice for free.
