- The name of a slain Milwaukee-area police officer will be added to a national memorial next month, a decision that's drawing praise from police officials and others.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund voted 15-0 Wednesday to add Wauwatosa police Officer Jennifer Sebena to the Washington, D.C., memorial.
The group originally planned to exclude her. That's because the suspect in her Dec. 24 slaying is her husband, meaning her death could be classified as domestic violence.
The nonprofit group says it reconsidered in light of further study and a review of precedent.
A spokesman for Gov. Scott Walker says Walker is pleased with the decision. And Jim Palmer of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association says the decision was clearly the correct outcome.
