- Last season, former Merrill Bluejay Paul Jesperson was not even expected to play. However after one of his teammates transferred to play on another team, Jesperson stepped in.He finished the year playing in last year's NCAA Tournament.Monday night, the sophomore started for Virginia in the N-I-T.Virginia would advance with to the second round with a 67-56 win over Norfolk State.
Jesperson had a tough night. He did not score in the game. In the first half, he had a nice block and grabbed the loose ball on the play. He also finished with 2 rebounds.Jesperson had a string of 12 games with at least one 3-point field goal end on Monday night. He is averaging just over 5 points per game.Justin Anderson had 15 points for Virginia, who improved to (22-11).
