- The Wausau Curling Center announced today its selection as the host venue for the 2014 Senior Men's National Curling Championship February 12 – 16, 2014. The event, the largest curling event held each year in the United States, typically draws up to 80 teams from across the country.
Corey Sandquist, president of Wausau Curling commented, "We are very pleased to have been selected as hosts for the 2014 Senior Men's Championship in only the second season at our new home on Wausau's southeast side. Our facility, with its state-of-the-art ice making capabilities, eight Olympic regulation sized competition sheets and extensive player and public amenities was designed for events such as this, in addition to its primary role of supporting Central Wisconsin's flourishing adult and high school curling activities.
The success of our recent 72 team Men's Invitational Bonspiel gives us great confidence that with the help of our outstanding volunteers, sponsors like the Central Wisconsin Sports Authority and continuing support from area businesses and the community, we can host a world class event with significant positive economic impact on the Wausau community."
