Tomahawk's Lampe Shocked by IOC Decision Submitted: 02/13/2013
- On Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee voted to recommend dropping wrestling for the 2020 Olympics.

For Tomahawk native Alyssa Lampe, it was especially surprising.

Lampe was an alternate last year at the London Games. She is trying to earn a spot on the 2016 roster.

When asked about the news, Alyssa told Newswatch 12 by e-mail,
"Just shocked. I never thought wrestling would even be in question of being taken out of the Olympic Games."

Lampe is competing at a tournament in the Ukraine. Another Olympic hopeful from the area is Stevens Point native Ben Provisor. He represented the U-S at 163 pounds in last year's Olympics in London.
