STEVENS POINT - A one-car crash killed a passenger near Stevens Point Friday afternoon.

The car crashed into a guardrail southbound on I-39 near the Highway 10 East exit around 12:45 p.m.

Police found a woman standing outside the car with a 31-year-old male passenger trapped inside.

The unidentified man from Hull was prounounced dead at the scene. Neither person was wearing their seatbelt at the time.

Police think the woman was driving too fast for the conditions and lost control.

It's the first deadly crash in Portage County this year.
