- The Grant County Sheriff in South Eastern Wisconsin is giving out 500 free firearm safety kits. Sheriff Nate Dreckman says the goal is to keep children- or anyone else who's not supposed to handle guns- out of harm's way.
The program is part of a national effort called Project ChildSafe. It was developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Each kit they give away includes a gun lock.
Since 2003 they've distributed more than 35 million firearm safety kits throughout the country.
