Fire Strikes a Duplex in Minocqua Overnight Submitted: 01/23/2013
MINOCQUA - A duplex in Minocqua is badly damaged by fire overnight, after two northwoods homes caught fire yesterday. Crews responded to a home on Back Bay Road around 2 o'clock this morning for a fire in a duplex. According the the Minocqua fire chief one side of the building was completely destroyed by the fire. The resident was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The other side of the duplex is still standing, but suffered heavy smoke and water damage.

Minocqua Fire Chief Andy Petrowski said the extremely cold temperatures make it difficult to draw water from the lakes- So he called in Lac du Flambeau, and Arbor Vitae for back up. He estimates the fire was out by 3:15 this morning. They're still investigating the cause of the fire.
