Nicolet Offers Winter Interim Classes Submitted: 01/03/2013
RHINELANDER - If the grind of the semester wears you out you might want to consider new interim classes at Nicolet College.

For the first time in years they're offering full three credit winter courses.

The pace in intense because you earn the three credits in just three weeks. But administrators say it's a good way to lighten the regular semester load, or get prerequisites out of the way.

"Some students like to focus on one content area at a time instead of having three or four courses. Which is what they would have in a regular semester. So during an interim you focus on one course. And I think there are students who prefer that learning method," says Rose Prunty, Dean of University Transer Liberal Arts.

Some students had to rearrange other things in their lives for three weeks. But junior Cameron Kwick says when it's over it'll be worth it.

"In my opinion it's a pretty easy three credits because you can focus so hard on it. But you have to just not get overwhelmed and keep up with the high pace and high intensity of the class. But I think it's pretty good," says Kwick.

Dean Prunty says the response this winter has been so good they'll most likely offer a winter term again next year.

She also wants to remind students they have a long list of classes available in summer as well.
