- It took a while, but for most of the Northwoods, the ice fishing season is well underway.
Whether anglers caught a prize fish - or simply spent time outside - everyone felt like a winner.
Most area lakes are reporting between 5 and 10 inches of ice. After a mild start to the seaon, many anglers were glad to finally get on the ice.
Larry Lang of Rhinelander was one of several who built an ice shanty - so he can have all the comforts of home and still get in some fishing.
Many others decided to simply brave the elements.
Even folks from out of town are making hte journey to the Northwoods to get in on the action.
