Generations Sing Together in 'Emmanual' Performance Submitted: 12/10/2012
TOMAHAWK - 95 voices came together at St. Mary's Church in Tomahawk to celebrate Christmas, and community.

Three different choirs sang Sunday night, with performer ranging in age from six to 89.

Months of preparation make the annual 'Emmanuel' choir performance a Christmastime favorite.

"I start selecting music in the summertime," said Janice Huseby, Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Mary's parish, "This is a time that we can all sing together, because the sound of a multigenerational choir is very special."

This year's performance had a wordly theme, with Carribean, African, and Latin songs. Traditional hymns like Ave Maria stilled the audience, and earned heartfelt applause.

"Everyone comes together, just in the sense of community, because music is really the universal language that can speak to everyone's heart," said Huseby.

The church considers the annual free performance a Christmas gift for the community.
