- Ask any teacher and they'll tell you keeping up with new technology in their classroom isn't always easy.
Thanks to a Wisconsin-based cell phone company, and voters all across the viewing area, Antigo high schoolers will get to enjoy thousands of dollars in tech upgrades.
The winners of Cellcom's Project Innovate awards were announced today...
Students assembled at Antigo High School for the unveiling of their grand prize: $30,000.
Kids and teachers alike gathered online votes by spreading the word around school and all across the community.
Now, they'll all get a say in what kinds of technology they'll choose.
"It just means revitalization of our school spirit, things to look forward to," Antigo High School library media specialist Kristy Bovre said. "It just give the kids some ownership too. They can get their proposals in and see what they want for their school, so that's really cool. They're really excited."
Antigo was one of nine schools in the Northwoods chosen to participate.
Tomahawk took second place and gets $15,000. Merrill took third and will get $5,000.
Voting ran October 22nd through November 19th.
