- A house fire Wednesday morning in Rhinelander killed one person and left another injured.
The fire started at a house on Maple Street just before 11 o clock.
Witnesses said at one point, flames were coming through the windows and doors.
Firefighters found a man already dead inside the house.
Witnesses told us his wife was able to get out.
She was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Neither person's name has been released.
"We team up with the Rhinelander Police Department, and we have our own fire investigator, Eric Arno, and they'll go in, and first they'll get the account from the person that was out of the structure that was home, and try to find out a chain of events that led up to us being called," said Rhinelander Assistant Fire Chief Tom Waydick.
Neither Rhinelander Fire nor Police could tell us about what they think caused the fire yet.
The entire block between Phillip and Davenport streets was blocked off for more than an hour.
