- Protestors hope a Wausau woman gets the maximum sentence in a dog abuse case there.
20 year old Sean Janas was in court Monday.
She entered a plea of not guilty to two felony counts for the mistreatment of animals.
Prosecutors say Janas poisoned her boyfriend's dog, a German shepherd-Labrador mix named Mary, and tortured the animal before the 4-year-old dog died in June.
A group of protesters, some with their dogs, gathered outside the courthouse yesterday.
The protesters have called on prosecutors to seek the maximum penalties against the woman.
Janas remains in jail with bond set at 25-hundred dollars.
