- Hunters throughout the state experenced quite a year this hunting season.
Statewide, The 2012 Gun Deer Hunt proved to have plenty of deer for hunters. Nearly 244,000 deer wre killed. That's up 7.7 percent from last year. Nearly 115,00 were bucks - which is up by 12% from a year ago. Many Northwoods hunters were also in on the action.
There was a 17% increase in the number of bucks killed in Taylor county. Forest and Langlade counties had a slight dip in the number of bucks - but more anterless deer were shot. The joy of getting on the board was felt by many.
Other preliminary nubmers include 21% mroe bucks killed in Wood county. Florence and Price counties reported double-digit increases in buck kills. Lincoln county had a modest decrease on total deer killed.
