- The weather outside frightful, but that didn't stop hundreds of people in Rhinelander from seeing a yearly tradition.
Tonight was the annual tree lighting ceremony in downtown Rhinlander. This year's theme was It's a Wonderful Life. The event began with a parade complete with bicycles, floats, and Christmas lights. Last but not least was Santa Claus in his sleigh.
Adults and children gathered round as Santa lit the Christmas tree. Hot cider and Christmas Carols kept the holiday spirits lively and warm during the ceremony. Many said it was worth braving the cold.
"I was surprised, this is my first time, I was surprised at how many people were out here for the lighting of the Christmas Tree and here for the parade, and it was just a great time," said Phil Newcomb
After the tree was lit, Mr. and Mrs. Claus stayed to hear what each kid wanted for Christmas.
